What does the Jewish tradition tell us about reproductive rights and public funding of religious education, both current Michigan ballot initiatives?
A Panel Discussion Featuring a Reform Rabbi, Modern Orthodox Rabbi, and Conservative Rabbi

Rabbi Brent Gutmann (Reform) is the Senior Rabbi of Temple Kol Ami in West Bloomfield and will begin a new position in July 2022 as Senior Rabbi of Temple Beth Zion in Buffalo, New York. His background includes Reform and Conservative congregational settings in the United States and New Zealand, with a commitment to community building, social justice, and Torah learning.

Rabbi Asher Lopatin (Modern Orthodox) is the Executive Director of the JCRC/AJC of Detroit and the Founding Rabbi of Kehillat Etz Chayim of Detroit. He is also the Founding Director of the Detroit Center for Civil Discourse, a Rhodes Scholar, and a Truman Fellow with an M. Phil in Medieval Arabic Thought from Oxford University.

Rabbi Blair Nosanwisch (Conservative) is the Director of Spiritual Care at Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills. She has served as a Board member and Chair of Education and Social Action at the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue; co-founder of an educational initiative for Jewish teens and tweens called PeerCorps Detroit; co-founder of a cross-cultural urban garden called Eden Gardens; and the creator of “Pickle Torah.”
